Tonya Record Certified Mental Wellness Coach

Hi, I’m Tonya, Certified Mental Wellness Coach

I believe career transformation starts with self-trust. My approach is not a one-size-fits-all; it’s rooted in I know all about winding paths, constant change, transition and growth. I also know how it feels to overcome that feeling of being lost, overwhelmed, uncertain, and anxious about things to come.

While life is always changing, every person has the ability to cultivate resilience and strength to find their way through and come out the other side. And you don’t need to do it alone.

As a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) with a background in psychology and human services studies, I’ve coached many clients who are struggling with self-doubt, anxiety, and dealing with the pressure of making the “right decision”.

With a holistic approach that utilizes evidence-based tools and practices, I help my clients build their confidence and assertiveness so they can navigate change and take decisive action, ultimately creating a more meaningful, fulfilling life.

My Path to Becoming a Certified Coach

My journey to coaching started in an unexpected place: a high school counselor’s office. What should have been a safe, supportive check-in turned into a heated exchange with my counselor yelling at me.

The experience, though unsettling and painful, gave me the impetus I needed to do things differently. I decided that I wanted to do things differently. I wanted to create a safe space where people could feel heard, understood, supported, and encouraged, not criticized. I went on to study psychology after high school, deepening my understanding of human behavior and motivation.

Years later, after raising my children and returning to the workforce, I began reflecting on what I wanted this next chapter of my life to look like. That’s when, with  the guidance of a supportive career coach, I discovered the field of coaching — and it felt like coming home.

I decided to enroll with IPEC to earn my coaching certification. In 2020, I became a Certified Professional Coach (CPC). Soon after, I started my business, Cocreate Transition Coaching, where I hold that safe space for my clients to navigate big transitions, like career changes, divorce, and moves, as well life challenges like mild to moderate depression, anxiety, and burnout, so they can co-create the life they want to live.

My Approach as a Mental Wellness Coach

As a certified coach, I offer a holistic, integrated approach. Every part of your life is connected and when an issue is showing up in one area, it’s likely affecting other areas as well. With me as your coach, we’ll look at the big picture and explore the patterns at play so you can make meaningful, lasting change.

While I offer a safe and trauma-informed space, I also draw on evidence-based tools and practices, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Coaching (CBC), in addition to a variety of coaching skills and tools. These methods help clients build awareness, develop practical long-term skills, and create new patterns that support their goals and well-being.

 My Values

  • Adventure. Adventure, for me, means being willing to explore the unknown parts of yourself with openness and courage. It’s about stepping outside of your comfort zone, not to push harder, but to expand what’s possible. It’s learning to meet uncertainty not with fear, but with curiosity.

  • Connection. Connection is at the heart of healing and growth. Connection to ourselves — our needs, emotions, and values — and connection to others — feeling safe, understood, and supported. And connection to something greater, whether that’s purpose, community, nature, or a sense of belonging.

  • Service. For me, service is about showing up with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to something greater. It means being fully present with those I support: listening deeply, honoring their experience, and holding space without judgment.

  • Fun. Fun is a vital part of wellness, reconnecting us to joy, curiosity, and the freedom to be ourselves. In coaching, fun means creating space for playfulness, humor, and experimentation. It means letting go of the pressure to “get it right” and allowing yourself to explore with openness and lightness.

  • Courage. Courage isn’t about being fearless. It’s choosing to show up, even when things feel uncertain, uncomfortable, or unknown. In coaching, courage looks like asking hard questions, sitting with uncomfortable emotions, or being honest about what you truly want.

Whether you’re in the midst of a big life transition, or you’re dealing with anxiety, setting boundaries, or overcoming burnout, remember this: You deserve to feel confident, capable, and at ease as you move through life’s changes.

You can experience more clarity, build your confidence and resilience, and feel empowered to take action.

As your coach, I can provide the space, support, and perspective you need to trust yourself, make the best decisions for you, and create a life that truly reflects who you are.

Kind Words

“When I got to work with Tonya, she helped me realize many things that have been keeping me back from reaching my goals. She took me out of the blue with questions that sounded simple, but when I dug down into it, I realized many things needed to change, for a change to happen. The funny part is she didn't tell me what to do, because I realized talking out loud about it and sharing what bothered me, lit up the answers that were there within me. What I love about Tonya is that she has a calm and friendly voice. She helped me to seek my dreams and to not lose touch with my, why.”
